FIND YOUR PLACE IN THE STORY
World Relief Garden Grove fosters relationships of mutual transformation among people of different backgrounds. We equip individuals with professional and spiritual development tools to impact the globe and further God’s Kingdom.
Volunteers stand at the end of a refugee’s long flight to freedom, welcoming them with open arms. Volunteers help refugees rebuild their lives in the U.S. by doing simple things like preparing apartments, teaching English, and finding jobs. Volunteers quickly become a refugee’s first friends in America.
Upcoming Volunteer Orientations:
Refugee individuals become eligible for citizenship five years after their date of entry. Imagine hearing the basic story of immigrant families preparing to become citizens. Periodically, World Relief gathers about 50-100 people to help them process their naturalization application. Volunteers help us conduct intakes before applicants meet our team of legal experts. A mandatory training is conducted an hour before the fair starts to equip you with the necessary skills to gather valuable information from those seeking citizenship in this country. Sign up to volunteer here.
Cultural Companions accompany refugees in their transition to life in the United States. Cultural Companions are matched with new refugee families to meet regularly for at least 6 months. They share meals, practice English, learn a new culture, help out with practical advice about American life, and build friendships
Interns serve alongside staff: assisting with practical needs, gaining professional casework skills and learning about refugee resettlement and cross-cultural ministry. This is a highly relational, hands-on internship involving significant commitment and responsibility.
Refugee families are arriving every week and that means MANY apartments need to be set up. We collect donations of basic household goods and need help collecting and organizing these items for placement in refugees’ first apartments in America. Find out what items we accept.
